The speculation surrounding Ralf Schumacher’s future continues to hum in the Montreal paddock.
Spyker’s Adrian Sutil was already linked with the seat, and now a third German - BMW-Sauber test driver Timo Glock - is apparently clamouring for the ride, it emerged on Friday.
24-year-old Glock impressed in GP2 last year, after racing a few times for Jordan in 2004. He is leading F1’s support series this year for iSport.
“With half a good season last year, I created this opportunity (at BMW), so who knows what I can do with a whole season,” he said recently.
According to the rumours, either Glock or Sutil could join Toyota even within the next few races, depending on Ralf’s performance in North America, although their respective contracts - and also Schumacher’s - could be obstacles.
Sutil commented on Thursday: “Of course I don’t mind these types of rumours, but it does not mean that they are true.
“I have noticed that there is some more interest in my performances now, but it is too early to say that there are any negotiations,” he added.
